  11. traceroute-nanog, an enhanced version of the common traceroute
  12. program, contains an integer overflow bug which could be exploited to
  13. execute arbitrary code.  traceroute-nanog is setuid root, but drops
  14. root privileges immediately after obtaining raw ICMP and raw IP
  15. sockets.  Thus, exploitation of this bug provides only access to these
  16. sockets, and not root privileges.
  17. For the stable distribution (woody) this problem has been fixed in
  18. version 6.1.1-1.3.
  19. For the unstable distribution (sid) this problem will be fixed soon.
